Raffle Quilt Update

The raffle quilt is nearing completion. At this time it is completely assembled. Our thanks go to the many guild members who helped with the piecing. The body of the quilt alone, excluding the many-pieced border made by Nancy, which I have yet to count, has 1600 pieces.

Nancy Ellis and Marge Teitelbaum took the raffle quilt to Janice Macomber in Middleboro to be machine quilted on July 25. They chose a twisted ribbon pattern with feathers in the border strip. Nancy is donating the cost of the cloth and Marge is donating the cost of the quilting, so the guild's income from the quilt will be free and clear of any expenses.

There is no guarantee that the quilt will be finished by our September 6th meeting, but if it is not ready then, it shouldn't be too much later. It is an original pattern and we haven't picked a name for it yet. Perhaps we should have a quilt-naming contest? Get your thinking caps on guild members!
